Cape Verde Gains 1,000 Creative Scholarships via OEI Entry
Cape Verde’s creative sector is poised for a significant transformation following the announcement that the country will receive 1,000 scholarships through the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI). This initiative marks a major milestone for the nation since it officially joined the OEI in November 2025.
Expanding Horizons for Artists and Producers
The scholarships focus on professional training across several essential disciplines, including photography, audiovisual production, sound engineering, cultural animation, and cultural project management. The program aims to bridge the gap between passion and professional expertise, targeting both students and active workers within the industry.
These educational opportunities are part of the Internationalization Program offered by the Solano Trindade School of Culture and Creative Economy (Escult) in Brazil. As part of the Ibero-American Program of Cultural and Creative Industries (PIICC), the courses will be conducted in Spanish, providing Cape Verdean talent with a broader linguistic reach and networking potential across the Lusophone and Hispanic worlds.
A Commitment to Professionalization
Cape Verdean Minister of Culture, Augusto Veiga, emphasized the long-term impact of this partnership. In a statement released Tuesday, Veiga noted that OEI membership “opens doors to a range of opportunities” that were previously inaccessible.
“This will assist in the professionalization of the artistic class and provide a pathway for everyone who wants to build a career in this sector,” Veiga said. By investing in these creative fields, the government hopes to diversify the nation’s economy and elevate its cultural exports on the international stage.
