Jovane Cabral Leaves Estrela da Amadora After Contract Ends
Cape Verdean international Jovane Cabral has officially parted ways with Estrela da Amadora after a two-season tenure where he served as a cornerstone of the club’s top-flight survival efforts. The Portuguese First Division side confirmed the departure today, marking the end of a contract that saw the forward evolve into a key leader for the “Tricolores.”
A Leader On and Off the Pitch
In a farewell message posted across its social media channels and official website, the Amadora-based club expressed deep gratitude for the 28-year-old’s contributions. The club highlighted not just his technical skill, but his character in the dressing room.
“Over two seasons in service of Estrela da Amadora, Jovane Cabral represented the club with commitment, dedication, and professionalism,” the statement read. “During his time with the tricolor emblem, the player also wore the captain’s armband, reflecting the leadership, responsibility, and example he always demonstrated.”
Impact in Amadora
Cabral arrived at the Reboleira-based club in 2024 following a high-profile move from Sporting CP. During his two years at the club, he became a fixture in the starting lineup, amassing 53 appearances and netting nine goals. His performances were instrumental in ensuring Estrela achieved its primary objective: maintaining its status in the Primeira Liga for consecutive seasons.
The forward is currently away on international duty, representing Cape Verde on the global stage at the 2026 World Cup.
A New Era Under Pepa
Cabral’s exit comes as Estrela da Amadora enters a period of transition. The squad reported for duty last Monday to begin pre-season preparations for their third straight season in the top flight. It marks a new chapter for the club under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Pepa, who oversaw his first training session on Wednesday.
As Cabral enters free agency following his World Cup campaign, Estrela da Amadora begins the task of reinforcing its attacking options to fill the void left by their former captain.
