Colo-Colo Signs World Cup Star Vozinha: Transfer Details

Colo-Colo has secured one of the biggest breakout stars of the 2026 World Cup. Aníbal Mosa, president of the Chilean powerhouse, confirmed on Friday that the club has reached an agreement to sign Cape Verdean goalkeeper Josimar Dias, better known as “Vozinha.”

A Star Emerges on the World Stage

The 40-year-old veteran became a global sensation during the recent tournament, earning a spot in the FIFA World Cup “Best XI” alongside luminaries like Spain’s Rodri. Vozinha’s heroic performances triggered a social media frenzy, with his Instagram following skyrocketing to 30 million as fans fell in love with Cape Verde’s underdog story.

Speaking ahead of Colo-Colo’s league match against Deportes Limache at the Monumental Stadium, Mosa finalized the speculation. “The first point is to confirm that Vozinha will be a Colo-Colo player,” Mosa said. “We have an agreement. The final details are being refined, but we have confirmation from his representative. We reached an agreement based on the proposal we presented.”

A Giant Move for a Giant-Killer

Vozinha arrives in Santiago as a free agent following the conclusion of his contract with Chaves in the Portuguese second division. Despite his club pedigree, it was his international form that made him the most sought-after goalkeeper of the summer.

During Cape Verde’s historic debut run to the round of 32, Vozinha allowed only five goals in four matches. His most legendary performance came in a 0-0 draw against eventual champions Spain during the group stage. He followed that with a masterclass against finalists Argentina, keeping the Blue and Whites at bay until they finally secured a 3-2 win in extra time.

Joining a South American Powerhouse

Vozinha’s representative expressed immense pride in the move, calling Colo-Colo a “giant of South America.” The goalkeeper is expected to travel to Chile in the coming days to undergo medical examinations and finalize his contract.

For Colo-Colo, currently leading the Chilean league, the signing is a major statement of intent. They aren’t just getting an experienced shot-stopper; they are bringing in a player who proved he can go toe-to-toe with the best strikers on the planet.
