TAAG Angola Airlines to Launch Luanda-Dakar-Praia Route
Angola’s national carrier, TAAG Angola Airlines, is set to bridge the gap between Southern and West Africa with the launch of a new route connecting Luanda to Dakar and Praia. Starting October 31, the airline will officially link Angola with Senegal and Cape Verde, fulfilling a long-standing demand for better connectivity between these historically and economically linked nations.
A Strategic Gateway Between Nations
The new Luanda-Dakar-Praia route received the green light from international aeronautical authorities and is scheduled to coincide with the start of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) 2026/2027 winter season. Beyond its practical utility, the route is a symbolic milestone for Lusophone and West African integration.
TAAG has been formally designated by the National Civil Aviation Authority of Angola (ANAC) to manage these services under a Bilateral Air Services Agreement recently signed between Angola and Cape Verde. This official backing solidifies the institutional framework required to sustain the new air bridge.
Strengthening Regional Integration
By including a stop in Dakar, Senegal, TAAG is expanding its footprint in West Africa. The airline stated that this expansion aligns with its broader strategy to foster greater integration among African markets and streamline travel across the continent.
“We are strengthening TAAG’s presence in Africa and building connections that make our network more relevant for passengers and for economic and institutional relations between the countries we serve,” said Clávis Rosa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TAAG. “We want Luanda to increasingly assume its role as a connecting point on the continent.”
TAAG’s Growing Global Reach
The addition of Dakar and Praia bolsters an already robust network. TAAG currently serves 13 domestic destinations and 12 international hubs, providing both passenger transport and essential cargo services. This latest expansion marks another step in the carrier’s mission to position Luanda as a primary transit hub for intra-African travel.
