Bruno Almeida Signs Five-Year Deal with CD Tondela
CD Tondela has bolstered its defensive ranks with the signing of Cape Verdean international Bruno Almeida. The 26-year-old center-back has committed his long-term future to the Beira region club, signing a contract that runs through June 2029.
A Strategic Addition for the Promotion Push
The club’s SAD announced the deal on its official website, confirming that Almeida is already integrated into the squad and working under the guidance of new head coach Ricardo Costa. The move comes as Tondela prepares for a demanding campaign in the Portuguese II Liga with the goal of returning to the top flight.
Speaking to the club’s official media channels, Almeida expressed his enthusiasm for the project. The defender, who recently followed Cape Verde’s World Cup journey with “immense pride,” revealed that the decision to join Tondela was an easy one. “I didn’t think twice when the interest and opportunity arose,” he stated.
Building the Foundation
Almeida becomes the fourth new arrival of the current transfer window, joining a recruitment class that includes full-back Zé Ricardo, winger Gastón Novero, and goalkeeper Carlão. Tondela’s management has also prioritized stability by securing contract renewals for key veterans Hélder Tavares, Bebeto, and João Afonso.
The squad officially kicked off its pre-season on July 1. Following a week of rigorous medical examinations and physical testing, the team is now fully immersed in tactical training as coach Ricardo Costa implements his vision for the upcoming season.
