Odemira Firefighters Donate Ambulances to Cape Verde
The Volunteer Firefighters of Odemira are extending a helping hand across the Atlantic. In a gesture of international solidarity, the department is donating two ambulances and a suite of specialized equipment to the Municipal Firefighters of São Lourenço dos Órgãos on Santiago Island, Cape Verde.
The donation includes one emergency relief vehicle, one non-urgent patient transport ambulance, and a complete set of extrication gear. The partnership was finalized last Saturday during the celebrations marking the Odemira department’s 91st anniversary.

Pulmonology experts and healthcare professionals are gathering today at the Portalegre Center for Arts and Performance (CAEP) for the third edition of the Respiratory Care Conference. Organized by the Local Health Unit (ULS) of Alto Alentejo, the event runs through Saturday.
The conference aims to modernize clinical practices while reviving the region’s educational traditions in pulmonology. The program features a robust lineup of workshops, lectures, and hands-on courses designed to improve patient outcomes across the district.
Estremoz Prepares for Star-Studded ‘Literary Parade’
The streets of Estremoz are set to transform into a celestial celebration of reading this Monday. The annual “Literary Parade” will kick off at 6:00 PM at the city’s fair and exhibition grounds under the theme: “From Tales to Constellations: Stories that make us discover the universe.”
Organized by the municipal and school libraries, the event is free to the public. Local officials say the parade serves as a vital bridge between generations, bringing together students, teachers, and the wider community to celebrate the power of books.
Castro Verde to Launch First-Ever Municipal Traffic Study
In a move to modernize urban mobility, the Castro Verde City Council has approved a comprehensive study of road traffic within the town. The initiative, sanctioned during a recent Municipal Traffic Commission meeting, aims to identify bottlenecks and improve safety throughout the county seat.
Significantly, the local authority will also begin drafting the town’s first Municipal Traffic Regulation. Officials noted that no such framework currently exists, and the new rules will allow the council to formally address long-standing circulation issues and manage future urban growth.
