Digital Cape Verde among the Top 5 of WSIS 2024 Champion
Milton Cabral, as coordinator of the CV Digital Program, in which he was present at the WSIS 2024 Champion, in an interview with Cabo-Verde.com, guarantees that this award for Cabo Verde, in which it was in the top 5, in a universe of 18 categories, is a recognition of everything that Cabo Verde Digital has done.
This is the first time that Cape Verde has participated in this type of global UN platform, which recognizes initiatives from around the world that develop actions using technology to promote sustainable development in the world.
And in this regard, Cabo Verde Digital stands out for creating and making a whole dynamic in terms of companies that use technology to solve people’s and companies’ problems with a focus on promoting entrepreneurship and with a technological base geared towards the innovation ecosystem.
Asked what this award means for Cape Verde, Cabral assures that this achievement shows that everything CV Digital and the team has done is relevant and has global recognition, which in other words shows that we are on the right track, even if it is a long journey.
And this, “also shows that all the actions developed by CV Digital to train young people in digital and incubate ideas, make perfect sense and end up being important for the country’s development,” he said.
Therefore, “this award brings and gives Cape Verde visibility on a global level because, in addition to Cape Verde receiving this recognition for the first time, this award will be disseminated through various channels and continents, making Cape Verde ‘visible’ to the world, which is extremely positive for CV Digital’s strategy as a digital hub,” concludes Milton Cabral.
It should be noted that on the sidelines of this award ceremony, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 27 to 31 Maio, there was also the WSIS Forum, a world summit for the information society that brings together leaders and representatives from various sectors linked to innovation and technology.
And then there was another conference, called the AI for Good Summit, which brings together different world leaders to discuss the impacts of artificial intelligence on the world.
With regard to these conferences, Cabral points out that meetings of this kind facilitate more direct contact with large companies and start-ups in order to exchange hundreds of contacts for follow-up, which will certainly take Cabo Verde Digital to new heights.
