Electricity and voltage

The mains electricity supply runs on 220 volts/50 hertz alternating current, so you often need an adapter for European plugs, using type C and F sockets.

Electricity is usually produced by diesel generators and supply is not always guaranteed. On some islands, the electricity is switched off at certain times (usually early in the morning). It is therefore worth saving electricity for environmental reasons and taking a flashlight with you.
