To celebrate the new record, the Portuguese superstar has announced a massive world tour spanning approximately 35 countries, bringing her signature emotional depth to audiences across five continents.
A Grand Return to the World Stage
The “Caravelas” singer will revisit some of the world’s most prestigious venues during her tour. A major highlight includes a residency at the legendary Olympia in Paris on January 27 and 28, following a series of performances across France in cities like Lyon, Bordeaux, and Toulouse.
Mariza’s tour itinerary reflects her status as a global ambassador for Portuguese culture. The tour will touch down in Lusophone nations including Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, and Mozambique, while also making major stops in the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Germany, and the Netherlands. The singer’s reach continues to expand deeper into Europe, with scheduled dates in Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Hungary.
Master Musicians and a Rich Legacy
Accompanying Mariza on this journey is a world-class ensemble of musicians designed to bring the soul of fado to life. The band features Luís Guerreiro on the Portuguese guitar, Eduardo Faustino and Gabriel Salles on acoustic guitars, Francisco Santos on drums and percussion, and João Frade on the accordion.
With a career spanning 25 years, Mariza has evolved from a local sensation to a global phenomenon. She first captured the public’s imagination in 2001 with her debut album Fado em Mim. Since then, she has been honored with the International Amália Prize and received prestigious state decorations, including Portugal’s Order of Prince Henry and France’s Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
The Evolution of a Voice
Known for her ability to blend traditional fado with contemporary sensibilities, Mariza’s repertoire features the work of esteemed writers such as Mário Rainho, Jorge Fernando, and Paulo de Carvalho. Her upcoming album, Amor, is expected to continue this tradition, offering a modern exploration of the themes of love and longing that are central to the fado genre.
