From frustration to Solution

In 2003, two students, found themselves grappling with a significant frustration—there was a glaring absence of information about Cape Verde, its people, and the community. Determined to address this gap, they dedicated several months to developing a platform, and in 2004, they successfully launched CaboVerdePlaza. Shortly thereafter, a third co-founder, significantly contributing to the platform’s burgeoning success. Despite the absence of the extensive social media landscape prevalent today, CaboVerdePlaza managed to attract up to 10,000 visitors daily and generated a good annual revenue.

In 2009, CaboVerdePlaza ceased its activities

Their journey was marked by long days and nights spent creating content and cultivating a robust community around their platform. Undeterred by the challenges, they balanced their commitment to CaboVerdePlaza with the demands of their university studies. However, the triumphant phase proved fleeting, as the founders eventually embarked on separate paths after completing their education. The dwindling income from the platform, coupled with the increasing demands on their time and energy, made it unsustainable as a mere hobby. Consequently, in 2009, CaboVerdePlaza ceased its activities, with the founders hopeful for a future return.

20 years after the first launch.

Fast forward to 2024, and CaboVerdePlaza has reemerged, reinvigorated and ready to bridge the information gap about Cabo Verde and its people. After 20 years it was time to relaunch the platform, bringing with it a wealth of content amassed since 2003. The passionate goal is to reconnect, inform, and promote all facets of Cabo Verde, its inhabitants, and its rich culture. The platform aims not only to resurrect the old content stored over the years but also to showcase new and current information, positioning itself as the premier starting point for anyone embarking on a journey related to Cabo Verde. Cabo Verde Plaza proudly declares itself as the “Portal di nos Ilhas.”

The relaunch is not merely a revival; it represents a renewed commitment to serving as a comprehensive resource for information about Cabo Verde. The founders recognize the importance of leveraging the advancements in technology and the changing digital landscape to create a more robust and sustainable platform.
