How to get there
The largest airport in Cape Verde is Sal (IATA code SID), the Amílcar Cabral International Airport. It was named after the politician and independence fighter Amílcar Cabral.
In addition to Sal, the islands of Boa Vista, Santiago and São Vicente are also served from abroad. From these airports there are flights to Fogo, Maio and São Nicolau. The islands of Brava and Santo Antão can only be reached by ferry.
The national airline Cabo Verde Airlines TACV operates domestic flights and also connects the country to the rest of the world. Air Portugal (TAP) via Lisbon and other airlines also fly regularly to the islands. Several charter companies even operate direct flights to the Cape Verde islands from airports in Germany in particular.
It is possible to visit the Cape Verde islands by ship as part of a cruise. There is often the possibility of interrupting the cruise for a week or two, for example, to visit the islands. People wishing to travel on a private ship should find out about the country’s rules beforehand, as entry is only possible at certain ports.
