Pudim de leite: a taste of Cape Verde on your table

If you love a dessert from a native land, there are plenty of options in Cape Verde, but today we’re introducing you to “pudim”. A sweet dessert that can be served at any time. Milk pudding is present at almost every moment. At birthday parties, weddings, when visiting someone or even for the family or in important settings, you’ll always find this delicious treat.

Easy to make, you won’t need many ingredients either.

Here’s how to make a pudding:
1 can powdered milk
1 can condensed milk
3 eggs
2 tablespoons of flour in the same measure as the condensed milk, half the container
And 2 tablespoons of milk and wheat flour

You can also add lemon zest, and for those who want to make a cheese pudding, just add grated cheese, but it has to be traditional cheese from the country.

After combining all the ingredients, heat the frying pan and melt the sugar until it is “crystallized”.
Then pour the melted sugar into the pudding tin and bake. It usually takes 20 minutes before it’s ready. However, during this time, you should … a toothpick into the pudding, if it comes out completely dry, with practically nothing on it, then the pudding is ready.

Then let the pudding cool down a little and place it in a shallow dish and wait for it to come apart, then it’s ready. Once cold, it should be stored in the fridge.

It’s delicious!
