Best time to visit and climate

The Cape Verde Islands have a temperate and fairly dry climate. The seasons are divided into the “windy season”, from December to June, and the “rainy season”, from July to November, although it has rained very rarely in recent years. This leads to a lack of water on many islands, which is not only problematic for agriculture. Travelers should also be particularly aware of this.

Temperatures are between 23 and 30 degrees all year round, but there is often wind, which can be quite strong depending on the region. The water temperature is over 20 degrees all year round, but in many places there are waves or dangerous currents.

Travel during the Christmas period should be avoided, as many people working abroad return to Cape Verde and flights and ferries can be completely overbooked.
